Welcome to a project that promises to be as interesting for you as it is for us as we uncover the lost Winton. We hope that you can help rediscover or even uncover photos and memories that may well disappear if not collated in some way. The whole project is an off shoot from our hugely popular Skooldays Nostalgia site, which is a community forum where school nostalgia is shared by thousands of members from all over the world. We hope that as Winton changes, this site will prove to be of great value and remain an area to show others how times have changed. Winton is blessed with some beautiful parades of shops that have barely changed from the 1st floor, just the shop fronts differentiate them from the previous decades.
What can you do?We seriously need help, so if you live in Winton or have lived in Winton in the past, then take a look at your old memories, or rediscover your old photos and see whether you could also be part of revealing lost winton.
No. We feel its important to collate any memories of Winton regardless of the decade. So even recent snaps of areas that have changed are always worthy of a submission.
2006 has proven to be a special year as it is the first year that the town has a carnival and a market. It's almost like a turn around to yesteryear, with the heart of the community being displayed in these very exciting areas. So what is the carnival all about. Paddi from By Design Interiors is arranging the carnival. It takes place on July 15th 2006. The carnival was a huge success, take a look at the winton carnival here.
Lost winton is a large project, we intend to find as many pictures as possible and build up a good library of pictures available for all to enjoy. If you can scan your images then make sure they are of a good quality (around 300dpi) if you want to send then send all photos as a jpg and of a good quality optimization. It would be a shame to loose the quality, so if in doubt then please contact us and ask.
