As Winton grew, it started to build natural tracks to nearby growing villages. In this case Moordown. Thus Wimborne Road developed. In this revealing picture of Wimborne Road at the turn of the century, as can be seen, many areas were still underveloped. The new road being built is a connecting road from Wimborne Road. Initially names Windsor Road, this now is known in Moordown as Elmes Road. The pine trees seen are obviously part of the original copse found at both Pine Road area and Redhill park.
